THUNDER IN THE HILLS is held twice a year, spring and fall.
ALL NEW OPI GUN CLUB RULES
All OPI Gun Club members must now also be NRA members. You can sign up for the NRA, or renew your NRA membership at the OPI shooting range and save on both memberships at the same time.
Shooting Range is now open to members during construction.
We have shooting lanes out to 200 yards.
SHOOTING RANGE RENTAL INFORMATION
The covers have yet to be built, and there is a lot more work to be done, but we are open and taking memberships.
We'll have to deal with the plastic tables and metal chairs a little while longer.
Rifle and Pistol shooters can shoot at exploding targets every Second Saturday of the month.

OPI has set aside a 13-15 acre area for our private, membership only shooting range. A membership only Gun Club, and limited guests for insurance purposes, and as OPI is a licensed high explosive and firework manufacturer, access to our property must be restricted and supervised.
When finished, members and two guests can enjoy rock solid covered shooting benches, rifle and pistol, out to 200 yards.
We are testing our Moving Madman pistol targets now. Shooting lanes where people can shoot at not only moving targets, but targets that will move AT YOU, and you are moving too. As they move at you they are, through pyrotechnic simulation, shooting back at you too! It will be very loud and bright, just like real gunfire, to increase the stress level to the shooter. You have to hit the target exactly "center mass" to stop the attacker or he continues at you -- all the while he is still shooting at you. If he overruns you!!!!? Are you up to the challenge?
When we are not holding special events we allow all "legal" private weapons on our range. Owners of fully automatic weapons must supply a copy of their form 4 for our records and insurance. 50 caliber shooters note the 200 yard max distance, but they will be allowed on our range, for now. Time will only tell on the continued use of 50 caliber weapons. +
We schedule most explosive testing for weekends, usually only one or two tests. This may interrupt "normal" shooting for a short period of time while we setup, conduct a test, and take notes on the results. Cameras may be restricted during these test periods. Our tests may be high explosive, low explosive, or pyrotechnic in nature that have nothing do to with firearms. See our Photos and Videos page for examples of the tests that we will be doing.

* The "Hillbilly Shootin' range" is under development. This is a clay target shoot where participants go on a short "walking" tour through thick woods and shoot at clay targets that come from the front, sides, and rear, with no set timing.
** Daily range fees are included for Members that purchase at least one set of 5 exploding targets. Rifle and Pistol shooters purchase a set of exploding targets, that are placed down range by us, at the members specified distance. Exploding Clays are ... ... Members can purchase as many sets of targets as they would like.
*** Exploding Clay Pigeons are available by request only. Shooting at exploding clays are a service provided item so that the public is not handling explosives.
**** Range rental is per day and to OPI Gun Club members only. Price includes use of the range and land area as well as restrooms, all other products, including food, drinks, ammunition, and targets must be purchased separately.
ABOUT OUR EXPLODING TARGETS:
Anyone of any age can shoot at exploding targets, legally!
No one is ever in possession of any explosives, only the OPI staff.
We have targets that will work with Black Powder rifles, all pistols, rimfire, and shotguns.
And yes, the Saturday exploding targets are smaller as we have our neighbors and other shooters to think about. Although smaller, they produce a very satisfying explosion for those who have shot them, explosions that you can "feel".
If you want to shoot at larger exploding targets come to our twice a year THUNDER IN THE HILLS where the targets are more than 4 times larger, rock the cars in the parking lot, and can be heard for miles.
SHOOTING RANGE RENTAL FOR A PRIVATE PARTY OR
ANY OTHER SPECIAL EVENT
Our shooting range is available to rent for your private party. WeBe BBQ food catering is available upon request.
The rental price is for the whole day and into the evening, 10:00 pm on weekdays, midnight on Friday and Saturday.
We will allow alcohol (brought in by you) to be served at your private party if there are
no firearms "of any kind" at the party. Our insurance will not cover firearms for private parties.
FIREWORKS will be allowed for your party!
FIREWORKS FOR YOUR PRIVATE PARTY
ONLY FIREWORKS PURCHASED FROM OPI's year round location can be used here.
No other fireworks can be brought in, and why? We have the cheapest consumer fireworks available -- anywhere!
You can purchase your fireworks from OPI and fire them off yourself during the Missouri firework seasons.
Outside of the Missouri legal firework seasons (20 June to 10 July - 20 December to 02 January) the fireworks must be fired as a "firework show" performed by OPI. Call for details.
If you would like a private professional firework display/show for your private party, we can arrange this too!
Private firework shows start at $500.00 using 1.4g fireworks, and can go up to any limit that you desire using any type of fireworks. We can create any message, even your company logo in pyrotechnic colored fire.
